Perfect Prep for your Appointment
If you’ve never had your makeup done with me before, you may not know what to expect—and that’s completely okay! This blog post is here to guide you through the process, help you feel confident about your upcoming appointment, and answer any questions you might have.
I know that makeup can feel daunting sometimes, so that’s why I’m here to make it a fantastic experience for you. Whether you have questions about your look, the products I use, or anything else, feel free to jot them down on your consultation form or send me a message.
This is not just about having your makeup applied—it’s about creating an experience that’s everything you need and more. Whether you want a chatty, fun session or a quiet, relaxing ‘bit of me-time’, I’m happy to be guided by how you’re feeling on the day and make it personalised for each client.
My goal is that you’ll leave not only looking your best, but feeling your best too!
Now, let’s get into the details of how you can prepare for your appointment:
A FRESH START
On the day of your appointment, please arrive with a clean, makeup-free face so we can start with the best possible canvas. Your usual skincare routine is totally fine— feel free to use your favorite moisturisers or serums as you normally would. I’ll be on hand to add any extra hydration or priming magic as needed before makeup application!
Pro tip: Give your skin some extra love by exfoliating a couple of days before your appointment. This helps to gently buff away any dry patches or texture, leaving your skin silky smooth. Also it’s a good idea to stay away from chemical peels or any invasive treatments at least 48 hours before the appointment, sometimes they can over-sensitise your skin’s barrier and leave you more susceptible to reactions or flare ups.
TIMINGS
Occasion makeup appointments are usually around an hour and a half, but allowing up to 2 hours is always a good idea. It’s best that neither of us feels rushed so you can relax as much as possible.
Being on time helps us make the most of your appointment. If you’re running late, just give me a quick text or call to let me know—it’s nothing to stress over!
Need to reschedule? Your deposit secures your appointment but can still be used for a new booking within six weeks of your original date if you won’t be able to make the original appointment. If you do need to reschedule or won’t be able to attend your appointment please try to give me as much notice as possible. *
DRESS CODE
During your appointment, it’s all about relaxation, so wear something comfortable. If you’re changing into a special outfit afterward, try to wear something that’s easy to remove without disturbing your makeup. Loose, wide-necked tops or button-ups are perfect for this.
INSPIRATION
We’ll chat at the start of your appointment to create a look that’s perfect for your event, outfit, and personal style. I’ll guide you through options and ensure you feel confident in the result.

ENVIRONMENT
If your appointment is at my home studio in Great Clifton or La’al Yan Accommodation in Branthwaite, everything will be set up and ready for you when you arrive.
If I’m traveling to you (at a venue, accommodation, or your home), it’s super helpful if there’s:
A clean surface for my kit.
A source of natural light (a spot near a window is usually ideal).
No worries if lighting isn’t perfect—I always bring my studio lights and director’s chair to ensure you’re comfortable, at the right height, and surrounded by the best lighting to create your flawless look.
If you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to reach out. I can’t wait to see you soon and help you look and feel your absolute best.
Warmest wishes,
Felicity
